Debriefing Room 1

The operating Room in the UCI Simulation Center has been designed for optimal efficiency, flexibility, and convenience. It has been designed for success in simulated surgery. Our operating rooms perform at the very highest level fidelity. Equipment graciously donated by Karl Storz © and Berchtold ©.

A crucial part of medical simulations training process is debriefing. Once the simulation is completed students engage in an in depth debriefing to discuss what worked, what did not, and what can be done differently to improve patient care. With good debriefing we can decrease the instance of vague or disorganized communication, and thereby improve patient safety though the use of communication verification tools. Additionally students taught how to utilize the components of Crisis Resource Management during critical events.  Non-participants can watch classmates during their simulation on high definition televisions and participate during the debriefing. Each room has high quality audio visual equipment that can record and play back simulations at will.
